The Showtime drama about the original crime family, The Borgias, is coming to an end after three seasons. Creator Neil Jordan told Deadline,
however, that he originally saw the show going four seasons. But while
filming the season 3 finale, Jeremy Irons (who plays Pope Alexander VI)
told Jordan that “this feels like the end of something, that the family
has come to an end.”

would have settled for a two-hour movie to wrap up the storyline, and
Showtime commissioned the script and he wrote it. Ultimately though,
Showtime decided it would be better to end with the season 3 finale.
