'Man of Steel' Cast and Creators Talk a New Kind of Superman in In-Depth Featurette

Batman has his childhood traumas. Spider-Man has his unrequited love. The Hulk has his ganglion of psychological maladies. But Superman was always pretty much... okay. Sure, his home planet blew up. Sure, he had to hide his identity from the world. Sure, he works in the dying industry of print journalism. But most material regarding the DC icon hasn't delved too deep into any serious issues. But Man Of Steel looks to be a new take on the age-old hero, with Zack Snyder and Christopher Nolan teaming to deliver a Superman of more emotional weight than we've seen before. The above behind-the-scenes featurette has the Man of Steel filmmakers and producers discussing how they aimed to expand such a simple character for more sophisticated modern audiences.
