The publisher of Closer, the French publication that first ran the scandalous pictures, and a female photographer at regional newspaper La Provence have been charged with "invasion of privacy."
The controversial photos showed a topless Duchess of Cambridge sunbathing with her husband, completely unaware that cameras were snapping her every move.
The Royal couple filed a lawsuit against the magazine immediately after the photos were published.
St. James's Palace officials told E! News at the time that the images were a "grotesque" breach of privacy and that the royal couple felt "violated" during a "highly intimate moment during a scene of married life," and today stated, "The ongoing legal process is a matter for the French authorities."
E! News reached out to La Provence but no comments were made available at this time.
