From Urban Outfitters to Williamsburg, it seems like every one is
trying to look like a hipster nowadays. Despite common belief, the
hipster trend has existed for quite a while, the year 1938 to be exact.
Let me introduce you to the original hipster: Clark Kent.
Superman's
hush-hush alter ego Clark Kent first debuted his hipsterness in the
beloved DC Comics. His wide-brimmed specks, posh, slicked-back hair, and
dapper suit prove Kent is the ultimate hipster.
With the Zack Snyder-directed film Man of Steel, starring Henry Cavill,
about to hit theaters, it felt right to bow down to Clark Kent and give
him the praise he deserves as the hipster of all hipsters. All these
other "hipster" celebs are just wannabees. Launch our gallery to view
seven celebrity hipsters desperate to get on Clark Kent's level.
Hugh Dancy
Don't look at the camera, that'd be like way too mainstream. The British Hannibal actor shows off his Clark Kent ways in honor of Zack Snyder's summer blockbuster Man of Steel,
starring Henry Cavill. We've put together seven celebrity hipsters
trying to get on Clark Kent's level. You may not have heard of some of
them, they're kind of oscure...
Paul Rudd
Paul Rudd knew who Clark Kent was even before Clark Kent was created. Such a hipster... You would think that the This Is 40 actor's dorky grin would take away from his hipster look, but nah, he's still rocking a plaid shirt and thick-rimmed glasses.
Justin Bieber
Bieber is
the definition of mainstream, so it's surprising to see him channeling
his inner hipster. The Biebs went for a more sophisticated look in this
photo from his Barnes and Noble book signing. It goes to show that a
pair of glasses can go along way.
Matt Bomer
Matt Bomer's scruff and clean suit scream Clark Kent. We knew Bomer had the body of Superman after watching him in Magic Mike, but who would have guessed that he could pass for Superman's nerdy journalist alter ego, too?
Joe Jonas
Damn,
Joe. You clean up nice! This Jonas Brother's whole look gives off a
Clark Kent hipster-esque vibe. From the glasses to just the right amount
of facial hair, the Pom Poms singer would be right at home
playing in an underground Williamsburg coffee shop... well, besides the
fact he's a product of the Disney corporation.
Zachary Quinto
The Heroes
star's wide, clear frames and his just-loose-enough tie epitomizes
hipsterness. The sexy Spock's gelled hair totally parallels Clark
Kent's slick style, too.
