First official images from The Amazing Spider-Man 2

The first official images from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 have been released online, featuring Dane DeHaan and Jamie Foxx as Harry Osborn and Electro respectively.

The unofficial on-set images that have been leaked so far have featured Foxx sporting some striking blue bodypaint, but this latest snap shows him in a more naturalistic light.

Released on Twitter by Marc Webb, the new image is accompanied by the caption, “Day 52. My name is Max”, and shows Foxx as Maxwell Dillon, Electro’s pre-transformation alter ego. As you can see from the backdrop, he’s got something of a keen interest in our friendly neighbourhood wall-crawler…

Meanwhile, Dane DeHaan looks very much the part as Harry Osborn, displaying his wealthy background by stepping into what looks like a limousine. Or maybe a black cab. Either way, he’s got a driver!

“Ladies & Gentleman, FanBoys & FanGirls of all ages: I give you The #Amazing Harry Osborn,” reads the accompanying caption on DeHaan’s Twitter page. Quite the hype-man, isn’t he?

Directed by Webb and co-starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Paul Giamatti, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will open in the UK on 18 April 2014.

Just as you'll finally be recovering from your respective food comas, Sony has given you the chance to re-gorge yourselves on a new batch of images from The Amazing Spider-Man. And they’re a mite juicer than your average turkey sandwich…

The new pictures give us a closer look at Spidey’s new schoolyard setting, with Andrew Garfield getting involved in a spot of basketball whilst Emma Stone parks herself at a desk.

Elsewhere, there’s a look at Dennis Leary as Stone’s father, police chief George Stacey, as well as a close-up shot of Garfield’s mechanised web-dispensers. Quite nifty bits of kit, from the looks of them…

The latter image marks a departure from Sam Raimi’s adaptation, which portrayed Spidey’s web-slinging abilities as an organic development. Marc Webb has instead reverted to the mechanical system depicted by the original comics, which should score him some points with the more fastidious of Marvel fanboys.

The Amazing Spider-Man
will be released in the UK on 4 July 2012. Just before another suited hero swoops into our screens, then. Shops can expect a big run on spandex come summertime…
