Surprisingly, Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx's 'White House Down' Looks Really, Really Funny

Maybe going into White House Down expecting to laugh is a surefire way to be disappointed. If you enter Roland Emmerich's terrorist-themed action film anticipating comedy of any sort, you might be let down by whatever befalls you in the two-plus hours (yes, this is, in true Emmerich fashion, a long one).
But before checking out the trailer for the film, which stars Channing Tatum as a would-be Secret Service agent who is charged with protecting President Jamie Foxx when 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is faced with explosive attacks, we weren't really prepared for anything that might be described as "lighthearted." Lo and behold, the four-and-a-half-minute video (even his trailers are long!) is cooked through with plenty of hearty laughs.

Columbia Pictures
Amazing Spider-Man writer James Vanderbilt's script seems to offer Tatum, a welcome newcomer to the comedy world and time-honored vet Foxx plenty of chances to shine, in instances that range from chuckle-worthy naturalism too off-the-wall, goofy gags. All teamed with the intensity of a crumbling White House... which makes the achievement of humor all the more impressive, and as such, all the more funny.
Check out the trailer above, and prepare for a movie that might capitalize on all sorts of cinematic fun.
