The documentary by Suzanne Mitchell will be released in October.

Screen Media Films has acquired North American rights to Suzanne Mitchell’s documentary Running Wild: The Life of Dayton O. Hyde, about the activist and author who maintains a sanctuary for wild horses. The distributor will release the film theatrically and day-and-date on VOD in October.
Running Wild premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival and went on to win the Audience Award at the Sarasota Film Festival.
Directed by Mitchell, the film was executive produced by Oscar winner Barbara Kopple along with executive producers Alejandro Perez and Robert Johnson of U.K.-based Telecom 2 and produced by Mitchell of Free Running Films. The film also features an original soundtrack by Steve Poltz that will be available in conjunction with the theatrical opening.
“We feel honored to bring this truly amazing story of Dayton Hyde to the American public.  Suzanne Mitchell has captured the beauty, the soul and the spirituality of this American Hero as he continues his work in conservation and saving the wild mustang,” said Screen Media president Suzanne Blech.
The deal was negotiated by Blech and Seth Needle, manager of acquisitions and marketing, on behalf of Screen Media with Peter Broderick on behalf of the filmmakers.
