It looks like the Broadway revival of Cabaret can count on at least one attendee.
When asked about the upcoming show at the Eighth Annual Stella by Starlight Gala, Liza Minnelli told Hollywood.com, "Anything that Alan Cumming is in I go see." Minnelli, who won an Academy Award for her starring role as Sally Bowles in the 1973 film adaptation, is certainly a Cabaret expert.
The actress said that she didn't envision anyone in particular playing Sally Bowles. "I always thought of the movie and the show as so different anyway," she stated, "but it's a great show and an equally great film, in film-terms and in show-terms."
As Minnelli noted, Alan Cumming will be reprising his role as the Emcee, but it is still unknown who will be filling her shoes as the flamboyant heroine Sally Bowles. Anne Hathaway denied all rumors that she was attached to the project, and Emma Stone was on board until a few weeks ago when she pulled out due to scheduling conflicts.
We also had the chance to ask Minnelli, a.k.a. Lucille Two, about her thoughts on the latest season of Arrested Development. She said it felt great to come back for the fourth season, adding that the newest installment was "really good."
