The actor-director-stuntman's latest film, "Chinese Zodiac" will open the six-day festival running June 18-23.
After a whirlwind trip through the U.S., Asian action star Jackie Chan is set to visit India later this month to attend the China Film Festival in New Delhi.
Chan’s latest film, Chinese Zodiac, in which he stars and directs, will open the six-day festival running June 18-23. The actor-director-stuntman will lead a delegation of 20 figures from the Chinese film industry in attending the festival, according to the Indo China Economic and Cultural Council (ICEC). Additional names of attendees have not yet been announced.
Chan is coming off a coast-to-coast trip through the U.S., where he was promoting Chinese Zodiac and made a series of public appearances.
The 59-year-old actor was in Los Angeles on June 8 to imprint his hands and feet in cement outside Hollywood’s famed Chinese Theatre. Chan had previously left his honorary imprints outside the theater in 1997, but the slab of concrete reportedly went missing – Chan is thus the first Chinese star to be honored with a glitzy imprint ceremony twice.
Earlier this week, Chan made a two-day swing through New York, where he was the guest of honor at a Lincoln Center reception celebrating Hong Kong cinema. Later that night, the Rush Hour star received a lifetime achievement award at the New York Asian Film Festival, which screened Chinese Zodiac.
At a press conference during his New York stay, Chan made the surprise announcement that he is writing a musical stage adaptation of his best-selling memoir I Am Jackie Chan: My Life in Action.
"We are looking for a director for the musical right now," he told reporters at a press conference at the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in New York. "It's all very exciting."
The actor’s upcoming appearance in India, meanwhile, will be his first public visit to the country since he participated in a promotional event for Kamal Hassan’s action disaster film Dasavatharam in 2008.
