LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
Former
“Beverly Hills, 90210” star Ian Ziering might have a new gig as a
Chippendales dancer in Las Vegas, but it took the actor a while to get
used to seeing so much skin at work.
The 49-year-old (yes, you read that correctly!) actor stopped by Access Hollywood Live on Wednesday where he dished on getting in good enough shape to show it off in Sin City.
”[There was] a lot of diet and exercise… and not breaking from the course,” he told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover.
Fatherhood
left Ian a little soft in the middle, something he had to work hard on
in order to get ready to strip down with Chippendales dancers.
“You
really have to make huge sacrifices [as a parent] and that came with
losing the hours that I would go to the gym,” he explained. “I would
take care of my daughter and make sure that my wife could sleep while
she was pregnant the last nine months those were the hours that I would
go to the gym and take care of myself. …You get a little softer. I got
up to about 205 pounds to 207.”
That included a little spilling over the waist of his pants.
“The muffin top was there. My 32 sized-waist paints were muffin topped. It was kind of tough,” he continued.
Another tough thing for Ian was the locker room vibe backstage at the show.
“Standing
backstage in-between the acts when I’m not involved in them, [the
dancers] come running off covering themselves with a hat and to be
surrounded by all that naked man ass is kind of discombobulating!” he
said with a laugh. “I never had that locker room experience.”
The
actor will appear as a guest headliner on the show Thursdays through
Saturdays until June 30 at the Rio All-Suites Hotel. Previous guest
headliners include Joey Lawrence and former 98 Degrees member Jeff
Timmons.
