Honors and Hires: Karen Stern Becomes First Editor to Cut 100 Episodes of a Single One-Hour Series

Honored:
Karen Stern has been identified as the first editor to cut 100 episodes of a single one-hour series, that being Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. In recognition of this achievement, American Cinema Editors board vp Stephen Rivkin presented Stern with a plaque Tuesday, June 13, during A.C.E.’s annual meeting. (The presentation is pictured above.)

WME has signed multiple Academy Award–nominated production designer Bo Welch, whose credits include Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, The Birdcage, Thor and the Men in Black trilogy. Welch won a BAFTA for Edward Scissorhands, and a LAFCA Award for A Little Princess.
Hired:
Paradigm announces the following client news: Director of photography Lowell Peterson has joined NBC series Welcome to the Family. Production designer Gary Frutkoff has boarded ABC’s Mind Games. Editor Devon Greene will cut ABC’s Intelligence. Production designer Greg Melton has joined ABC’s S.H.I.E.L.D.
Jack Lewars was recently named senior colorist at Technicolor – PostWorks in New York. He is currently working on several documentary projects for Martin Scorsese, and recently completed two documentaries for Alex Gibney, We Steal Secrets: The History of WikiLeaks and History of the Eagle.
