Happy Mothers Day! Today is a perfect day for love, for brunch, and
for you to shower your mother with affection and gifts — even though she
claimed, “Ohh, you don’t have to get me anything! All I want is to
spend time with my kids!” Yeah right, mom. We all know that if we show
up without that Brighton watch you’ve been dropping hints about then
we’ll forever be stuck in passive aggressive purgatory.
Of course we all love our mothers, but sometimes we find ourselves
staring wistfully into the magic little box in our living room and
daydreaming about a lady who could bake the world’s best cookies and
solve our problems in 30 minutes or less. From Carol Brady, to Marge
Simpson, and of course Lorelai Gilmore, Hollywood.com has compiled a
list of the top ten moms in the history of TV. We still love you, mom,
but these ladies are just so wonderful that we had to honor them too.
1. Lorelai Gilmore, 'Gilmore Girls'
Lorelai Gilmore is the epitome
of a cool mom: She's young, she's fun, and she's a big fan of
incorporating as much junk food into your diet as possible. She is one
of the rare cases where it is totally understandable to say, "My mom is
my best friend."
2. Vivian Banks, 'The Fresh Prince of Bel Air'
Vivian Banks is kind, sweet, and
has more patience that any woman we've ever known. She is a firm yet
loving mother to her three children, a pseudo-mom to her nephew Will,
and one hell of a dancer. (Who else remembers that episode? Wow!)
3. Claire Dunphy, 'Modern Family'
Claire Dunphy is is your classic
overbearing, and slightly neurotic, fix-it-all mom. Despite her Type A
personality, however, Claire is a kind-hearted mother who only wants the
very best for her kids.
4. Amy Matthews, 'Boy Meets World'
Amy Matthews is an empathetic
woman who knows how to guide her children with strength and a smile. She
is warm, witty, and not afraid to speak the truth even though it may
strain her relationships with her children.
5. Tami Taylor, 'Friday Night Lights'
Not only is Tami Taylor a lovely
and strong southern mother to her daughters, she also acts as a role
model and mentor to countless Dillon High School students. Plus, she's
one-half of Dillon, Texas's power couple so she's pretty much a badass.
6. Marge Simpson, 'The Simpsons'
With her scratchy voice, and big
blue hair, Marge Simpson is the most well-known animated mother of all
time. She is thoughtful, sweet, and most of all patient — a very
important quality to have when your family does one crazy thing after
another for nearly 25 years.
7. Kitty Forman, 'That '70s Show'
Kitty Forman loves to bake,
cook, and clean, but most of all she loves smothering her children and
their friends with affection. Plus, how can you not love that laugh?
8. Clair Huxtable, 'The Cosby Show'
Claire Huxtable is a strong and
witty mother who is just as successful in her home as she is in the
workplace. Being a working mother makes her tough at times, but it's
only because she wants to be the best role model she can be for her
family.
9. Kirsten Cohen, 'The O.C.'
Sure, Kirsten Cohen may
frequently enjoy a glass of wine — or eight — but she is a beautiful
woman with a big heart and a compassionate spirit. She took Ryan into
her home and treated him like he was her own son, so in our opinion
she's free to drink as much as she'd like.
10. Carol Brady, 'The Brady Bunch'
Although Carol is a stay-at-mom
mom she is so much more than that: She was a freelance writer, a PTA
superstar, a sculptor and a connoisseur at planning school events. But
above all, Carol is a mother who loved her big family — yes, even Alice
and that annoying cousin Oliver.
