In addition to Sorrentino's latest Cannes entry, Munich will screen works such as “Il Divo” and “This Must Be the Place.”
COLOGNE, Germany – Italian director Paolo Sorrentino, whose latest, The Great Beauty
was a critical smash in its Cannes competition debut, will receive a
retrospective of his life's work at next month's Munich International
Film Festival.
The Munich festival, which runs June 28-July 6, will present This Must Be The Place in its German premiere and will screen a wide range of Sorrentino's early work, including the Oscar-nominated Il Divo (2008), Sean Penn/Frances McDormand-starrer This Must Be The Place (2011) and the director's first two features: One Man Up (2001) and The Consequences of Love (2004). The retrospective will also include a selection of Sorrentino's early short films.
The director will attend the festival and take part in a public Q&A about his life and work.
