On Thursday morning the Tony Awards confirmed that NPH, the always delightful song-and-dance man, will host the ceremony for the fourth time. (No announcement has yet been made that he will host every show from here until the end of time...because he should).
The How I Met Your Mother star said of his gig hosting the biggest night on Broadway, "I'm very excited to be back hosting the Tony Awards at the legen — wait for it — dary Radio City Music Hall. It'll be more impressive than ever — if my math is correct, it will be 267 times bigger than last year. Oh, wait. No, that can't... hold on... carry the one... I'm awful at math. But rest assured, the show will rock!" We never had a shadow of doubt.
Cyndi Lauper's show-stopping musical Kinky Boots is leading the pack of the NPH-hosted 67th Tony Awards with 13 nominations, though the musical adaptation of Matilda isn't far behind with 12. Adding to the star power of the ceremony this year is nominees like Tom Hanks, who is up for the play Lucky Guy. The production, which is Nora Ephron's final play, has six nods.
The 67th Tony Awards will air live on CBS on Sunday, June 9 at 9 PM ET.
