It's been a big year for Nicolas Cage. First, he was nominated for the Razzie Award for Worst Actor in not one, but two of his remarkable films, Ghost Rider 2: Spirit of Vengeance  and Seeking Justice. Then, the invincible action hero was resurrected from an Internet death hoax via snowboarding accidentNow, with National treasure 3 on the horizon, he will combine two Richard Gere films to play a married man who falls for a prostitute. You go, Nic. You go.
The Wrap  reports that Cage is in talks to star in Lost Melody, an indie drama directed by Terry Zwigoff and produced by Edward R. Pressman. Cage will reportedly play an unhappily married man who escapes marital boredom through the everlasting love of a prostitute. The actor, currently on his third wife, knows a lot about marriage. Obviously, this is the key to marital bliss.
After Cage's sad performance in The Wicker Man wiped our memories of his Academy Award for Best Actor in 1996 (I'm not joking), can he finally return to acting greatness? Will an independent film by the creator of Bad santa  cure the loneliness felt by the single golden statuette sitting on his shelf? Probably not, but this is the man who stole the Declaration of Independence... so anything could happen.
