The television and film group expects sales of up to $623 million for 2013.
BERLIN – German film and TV group Constantin Medien has
confirmed its forecasts for the year, saying growth, particularly in its
digital operations, will ensure it hits its target of between $571
million –$623 million (€440 million - €480 million) in 2013.
Company CEO Bernhard Burgener said the Munich-based group was in the middle of a digital transformation that would impact all aspects of its business. He highlighted the success of Sport1, Constantin’s all-sports channel, which two years ago launched a digital pay-TV operation, Sport1+ and now boasts some 1.8 million subscribers.
The division’s mobile operation, sport1.de, has recorded 2.9 million unique downloads for mobile phones and tablets, while Sport1’s social media sites have a total of 800,000 fans and followers across Facebook, Twitter and Google+, Burgener said.
Constantin announced it will launch a digital radio channel under the Sport1 brand, Sport1.fm, on July 19th. The round-the-clock channel, which will stream gratis online, on WLAN radios and be available as an a smartphone and tablet app, will carry the live broadcasts of all 612 season matches of the German first and second division soccer league, the Bundesliga, live reporting from international socer tournaments as well as coverage of Germany’s professional handball and basketball leagues.
