Steven Soderbergh Lied — He's Still Directing, and He's Doing a TV Show with Clive Owen

Remember that couple you were friends with through high school — the ones who'd break up every month and swear, with alcohol-infused fury, that they'd never get back together? That's pretty much what's going on with Steven Soderbergh and his toxic love, directing. No matter how many times the filmmaker promises he's out of the game, he finds himself back behind the camera. After the Cannes premiere of Soderbergh's so-called last hurrah, Behind the Candelabra, he has reportedly announced (via Deadline) that he will be directing a television show for Cinemax: a 10-episode drama titled The Knick, set to star Clive Owen.
Soderbergh's next venture (which, for all we know, could be the start of a long lasting television career) will take place at New York's Knickerbocker Hospital circa the beginning of the 20th century. Although Candelabra, Soderbergh's Liberace biopic, is an HBO film, this will be his first real foray with small screen directing — an exciting prospect considering the auteur's versatile originality.
So yes, he's kind of a liar, but in the best way possible.
