Reese Witherspoon's Husband Jim Toth Pleads Guilty to DUI

Jim Toth Pleads Guilty to DUI

Jim Toth and Reese Witherspoon
Reese Witherspoon and husband Jim Toth have entered pleas and will pay a few hundred dollars total in fines to close the books on their infamous Atlanta traffic stop.

"The pending criminal matters against Ms. Reese Witherspoon and Mr. Jim Toth have been resolved," says Ronda "Roni" Graham, Deputy Solicitor for the Municipal Court of Atlanta, in a statement.

Although the matter set loose an avalanche of bad publicity, Toth will avoid jail time stemming from his April 19 arrest.

The talent agent appeared in an Atlanta court Thursday to plead guilty Thursday to misdemeanor DUI, was ordered to perform 40 hours of community service and attend an alcohol education program, plus pay a $600 fine.

The judge told Toth: "Consider yourself fortunate you didn't injure your passenger and didn't kill anyone."

Witherspoon, 37, who was arrested for disorderly conduct at the time of her husband's arrest, pleaded no contest to an ordinance violation for refusing to stay in the car under police orders. Her lawyer, Bruce Morris, appeared in court on her behalf. The actress will be fined $100.

The actress later apologized for her behavior.

"We went out to a restaurant in Atlanta, and we had one too many glasses of wine," Witherspoon said Thursday on Good Morning America. "We thought we were fine to drive and we were absolutely not. And we are so sorry and just so embarrassed. We know better and we shouldn't have done that."
